    Where the Tambo comes from

A Nehru jacket, rerouted through the Andes.

We fell for the centuries-old Nehru silhouette — the mandarin collar, the clean line, no lapels to fuss with — and built our own as a tribute, with an Andean twist. A tambo was a resting place on the old mountain roads: somewhere to stop, get warm, and carry on. That's the job we gave this jacket. Sharp enough for the office, warm enough for a mountaintop, light enough to be the piece you actually pack.

One country. One community. One jacket at a time.

    An ode to our region

The mountains we grew up around.

The Tambo is named for the shelters that lined the old Andean roads — resting places between one village and the next. Ours is made along those same routes: wool from the highlands, sewing in Miranda, buttons carved from Amazon Tagua. Designed between Quito and Brooklyn.

Miranda sewing · seamstresses in the northern Andes
The Andes wool · natural, renewable, biodegradable
Amazon Tagua · buttons carved from vegetable ivory
Since 2017 fair wages · small batches · family workshops
    Signed work

Every Tambo leaves with its maker's name inside.

Fashion has a habit of making the hands disappear. We do the opposite: the label inside credits the artisan who sewed it — because a signed piece of work is a different kind of object. When you hand it down, the name goes with it.

Flip the collar of any Remu piece and you'll find one.

    The jacket looks great; I

The jacket looks great; I get so many compliments! In just didn’t realize how light it would be. It works fairly well for a Bay Area, California winter, but couldn’t imagine wearing it some place actually cold

    Solid buy

As mentioned on their emails, it took a few weeks to arrive. Worth the wait! I love the jacket and am excited to wear it when it warms up a bit.

Fit and color are both disappointing. The model photos show an olive green, trim fitting coat. The garment I received is much brighter green and very boxy. Sleeves are long and baggy and the coat is unflattering at the torso. Too bad.

    Completely different than other jacket

Bought two of the tambo in different colors. Love my beige one. Navy one doesn’t have a liner, cut is completely different and boxy, material not comfortable. I understand differences due to hand making but these are completely different jackets with different fits and end quality.. I would return but the return policy is like 10 days

    Tambo jacket in Light Wool

Wonderful jacket! I received one compliment after another. The style is certainly unique. The jacket is both light and warm, and the size/fit are spot on. Thank you!

    Great design, size up

Love this coat. Unique low collar but got several compliments. Very high quality wool and stitching. Note the cut is rather slim, I'm 5'10" weigh 194 pounds, athletic build, needed size XL to fit shoulders. Suggest you size up if you get this.

Unique, stylish, super-comfortable, perfect for work or hiking outside in the cool fall. Just siz...

Bought this on a whim. Wow. Impressed. First, the pros: This is a very high-quality jacket, light enough to wear indoors without overheating and yet warm enough for crisp fall days outside. Basically perfect if you go in and out a lot on cool days. The wool fabric is not scratchy, instead soft and comfortable, and is tightly woven. Internal stitching is almost overly done, this won't tear at the seams if you split some wood. Stylish enough to set you apart. The cons: The unique low collar may not be for everyone but I dig it. And take caution on sizing, the jacket is a slim fit, you will want to size up a notch. I'm 5'10", athletic build and lift weights, weigh 192 pounds, and found the XL of this fits perfectly vs. my usual size large in other brands. You can roll the end of the sleeves up one notch if needed, there are no weird inner seams there, so the jacket still looks great.

    Very Nice & Great Style

The fit is perfect and design is simple but elegant. I've worn it a few times and have noticed guys checking out the coat. The coat itself is warm but doesn't feel heavy. Overall, I'm very happy with the coat!

    Very High Quality

Was so happy to recognize this jacket. Obviously took lots of skilled time to create and it shows. Material is extremely soft yet feels durable and warm. Unfortunately it was a bit small for me, 6ft 190lbs and usually wear a medium in jackets. Recommend going a size up if you’re about my size but like tighter fit.

Great style, but unfortunately let down by the thickness of the jacket

Was extremely excited to receive this product. Was shocked at how THIN the jacket is. Felt more like a thick flannel. Overall the look is still nice but just very disappointed and let down on the thickness of the actual jacket itself. For what it is, felt a bit too expensive. With all that said, I do like the style. Maybe a different color might work better with this style.

    Feels like a $500+

The attention to detail is phenomenal. From the material to the buttons to the pockets.. wow. It's pretty slim in the chest area, so I'd call it a slimmer fit, but it's pretty flattering. I'm 6' and 150 lbs but athletic. Ordered the medium and I can fit a light sweater under it, but would likely have to size up beyond that. That being said, this jacket is substantial so I doubt I'd need much else under it. Looks great with a cream sweater and dark grey pants. Customer service is fantastic too btw. Loving this brand!

    Beautiful jacket!

A week in and I am wearing it every day. The fit is perfect and allows for room to wear a long sleeve shirt under it without the sleeves becoming too tight. The material is beautiful and after only a day, the wrinkles from shipping went away. Cheers to the tailor Sofia!

    Sharp

I just received my dark wool coat a few minutes ago (literally) and felt the need to write a review. It is sharp as a tack. The fit is perfect, really feels tailored and definitely has the feel of a hand maid piece of clothing. Thanks Raquel!

    Great Jacket

Very stylish and has a great weight to it. Not too heavy or too light, perfect medium. The silk lining is also a nice touch. Only thing I’d change is making the sleeve length slightly shorter. At 6’1” and a 35” sleeve, the size large is an inch or so too long but nothing that can’t be fixed at a tailor. Highly recommend!

    Thoughtfully made. Excellent craftsmanship!

Was looking for a jacket for spring and summer evenings in the Pacific Northwest. It is a perfect fit and feels so comfy.

Also, kudos for communicating quickly and clearly about the order status at each stage.

    Nice wool

The wool is really high quality with a nice sheen and soft touch. It is an unlined jacket and the beautiful tagua buttons are a tad oversized. It’s best worn open since it is not fitted and looks boxy. Best for spring and fall not NE US winter
