Handcrafted by skilled artisans in the indigenous community of Peguche, Ecuador, this stunning piece combines comfort and culture... Adorned with upcycled denim details and traditional Ecuadorian patterns, the jacket makes a statement while celebrating the Andean region. Finishing touches include sustainably sourced Tagua buttons from the Ecuadorian Amazon. Wear the Peguche Jacket to bring a piece of the Andes with you on your travels.

We work with seamstresses from rural communities to handcraft each of our pieces, enabling them to become independent through their skills and provide for their families. We pay 15% of the price of each of our products directly to the seamstress that manufactured it.

Did you know an average pair of jeans requires over 1,800 gallons of water to be manufactured? That is the equivalent to the amount of water that a family of four needs for 64 weeks. Reusing fabric offsets the production of new material and in turn, offsets the usage of resources. By upcycling denim through this jacket, we avoid the waste of roughly 7,800 gallons of water and give new life to around 1.8 pounds of textiles.

How We Make This Jacket

Women Of

The Community Of Miranda

We work with seamstresses from rural communities of Ecuador to handcraft each of our pieces, enabling them to become independent through their skills and provide for their families.

Just an hour’s drive from Quito, Raquel Llumiquinga & Sofia Tipan have been manufacturing Remu Apparel jackets since day 1. They became our first manufacturing partners and are a huge inspiration to all of us and for our company.

An Ode

To Our Region

We wanted to have at least one product that would be an ode to our region in Ecuador, The Andes. Handcrafted by the Otavalo's in Peguche Ecuador, this jacket is crafted with a traditional blanket. The patterns, the style and the purpose of this product are directly drawn from the mountains that surround us and that we grew up around.

The Buttons

Tagua, Vegetable Ivory

Handcrafted buttons made out of Tagua tree seeds, a native species that grows in the Ecuadorian rainforest. This natural product is widely known as vegetable ivory for its resemblance to animal ivory.

Tagua handcrafts are a great option to replace ivory products, by using the seed we are helping to stop ivory poaching. In 1 year a Tagua tree produces 20 pounds of vegetable ivory, that is equivalent to the amount of ivory a female elephant produces in a lifetime.
